Tony first started progamming computers back in 1980, using an 8 bit, Commodore Vic20 home computer.
The Vic20 computer supported 'Colour Graphics', which was quite something back then, and came loaded with a memory of 3,500 bytes.
Nowadays, a standard PC has just over 4,000 million bytes (4GB) of memory installed.
With such a small memory to call upon, computer games on the Vic20 weren’t quite as enthralling as they are nowadays. Tony's attention was instead drawn to writing computer programs. This decision was to stand Tony in good stead for his future career in IT.
Tony’s first job was working for a nationwide, publicly listed, vehicle rental company, managing their computer system networks, located at sites throughout the UK, for almost 8 years. In the 90’s, Tony moved on to working for a multi-million pound computer components distributor, managing their computer system network, and helping to develop and support their internal back-office, software management systems, which controlled just about every aspect of the business.
Over time, Tony racked up many Microsoft Accreditations, including the much coveted titles of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.
In 1998, Tony setup ICU Group Ltd ( IT Support NW), with a view to not only providing general IT Support Services to organisations, but also to developing, from scratch, fully automated Stock Distribution and Contract Management Software Solutions, which could then be licensed to businesses to help them automate many of the manual, administrative processes, prevalent within their daily operations. ICU’s software solutions have, and continue to be used, by organisations to help win and manage maintenance contracts with the likes of the NHS, Barclays Bank, TubeLines ( London Underground), DHL, Lidl, Parcelforce, UNITE Union , local councils etc ( not an exhaustive list). Many of ICU’s clients continue to use ICU Software Management Solutions to this day, which is testament to a truly reliable and robust solution, developed solely by Tony.
In 2008, 10 years on from setting up ICU, and with a much larger client base and team of engineers to manage, Tony started to devote all of his time and efforts to overseeing
the smooth operation of the entire business, on a daily basis, ensuring all clients receive the very highest level of customer support, AT ALL TIMES, from the entire IT Support North West Team.
Nowadays, rather than setting up new computer networks at the weekend, or staying up in to the early hours writing new software modules, Tony has the pleasure of being able to call upon his team of equally passionate, time served,
IT Support Engineers, to manage the day to day, technical support needs of IT Support NW's clients.
Tony remains actively involved, on a full-time basis, with the day to day activities of the business, ensuring that the same passion and determination Tony has always had, to look after clients' needs first and foremost, is always maintained.
Support Team Manager & Field Engineer
After studying Computer Science at Manchester University, Ben started working for a local IT Support Company. Ben and Tony became acquainted when ICU were sub-contracted in by Ben's previous employer, to oversee some of their larger clients' needs. Ben joined ICU full time in 2004 and is now responsible for overseeing all of the IT Support Team on a daily basis, as well as attending clients' sites to conduct project works, and scheduled IT Strategy reviews.
Support Desk Manager
After working in various IT Support roles for over 8 years, which included supporting sites across the UK, Craig joined ICU early in 2009. Craig is responsible for managing support desk call responses and follow ups, along with coordinating engineering resource for site works, planned project works, and scheduled IT Strategy reviews.

Richard developed his IT Support skills over the course of several years working for a plc with a user base of over 22,000, and whilst learning and subsequently acquiring several Microsoft Certified accreditations along the way. As well as helping on the Support Desk, Rich attends clients' sites, manages project works, and conducts scheduled IT Strategy Reviews / Health Checks.

After studying Business Information Systems at Liverpool John Moores University, Stephen worked in various IT Support roles for 7 years, working his way up to Service Desk Team Leader for another North West based IT Support company. As well as helping on the Support Desk, Stephen attends clients' sites, manages project works, and conducts scheduled IT Strategy Reviews / Health Checks.

Karl joined our team early in 2015, having worked for a large insurer in the USA for over 12 years. Karl was responsible for delivering IT Support to 10 sites across the state of California. Karl helps with providing 1st and 2nd line support to all clients calling the support desk and is responsible for monitoring client backups on a daily basis.

Paula worked for 10+ years as a secretary at a plc, working her way up to being PA to the Directors of the company for several years, as well as managing a team of secretaries, before starting to work for ICU in 2002.
